Core GPS Tools

Drive Mode, Flight Deck, trip calculations, route estimates, fuel estimates, and exported GPX/CSV files are generated in your browser. GPS Stats does not store your normal driving or flight track on the server unless you intentionally use Live Location sharing.

Live Location Sharing

When you create a Live Location room, GPS Stats temporarily stores room data so invited people can see the shared map.

Stored for a live room

• Random session ID and private session key
• Anonymous participant ID stored in a temporary cookie
• Display name you enter, if any
• Latitude, longitude, timestamp, and optional GPS details such as speed, heading, altitude, and accuracy

Retention

Live rooms expire after 24 hours. Inactive participants are removed from the active room list after a short stale period.

Offline App and Map Cache

The site can register a service worker so your browser can cache app files. Drive Mode and Flight Deck can also cache selected map tiles on your device when you tap Cache Map. This cache lives in your browser storage and can be cleared from your browser site settings.

Weather Lookup

The Flight Deck METAR/TAF lookup sends the station identifier you enter to a GPS Stats server endpoint, which requests current aviation weather from Aviation Weather Center services and returns it to your browser.

Third-Party Services

• Map tiles may be requested from OpenStreetMap, CARTO, OpenTopoMap, or similar public map tile providers.
• Some pages may include Google AdSense advertising scripts. Those providers may use cookies or similar technologies according to their own policies.
• GPS Stats does not sell personal location data.

Your Controls

• You choose when to grant GPS permission.
• You choose when to create and share a Live Location room.
• You can stop sharing by closing the room page or disabling location permission.
• You can clear cached app data and map tiles from your browser settings.
